Job Description
USPS is hiring Mail Carriers across the United States. No prior postal experience is required. Paid training is provided so you know what to do on day one.
Mail Carriers deliver letters and packages on assigned city, suburban, or rural routes, interact with customers, and work outdoors in all seasons. Depending on the role and location, you may be hired as a City Carrier Assistant, Rural Carrier Associate, or a similar frontline delivery position. All roles are under USPS oversight with federal employment standards.
Position Details
- Starting Pay: $20–$29/hr depending on role and location
- Annual Compensation: $50,000–$72,000+ per year plus full federal benefits

Responsibilities
- Deliver mail and packages to homes and businesses along assigned routes
- Walk or drive set routes and work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Sort and organize mail before starting the route each day
- Collect outgoing mail along the route when required
- Provide friendly customer service and follow USPS safety and security procedures at all times
Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older (or 16 with a high school diploma)
- Valid U.S. driver's license with a safe driving record
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and be on your feet for extended periods
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency
- Pass a background check and drug screening
